A Motorcycle Polish Recomendation

I’ve tried a bunch of different polishes on my bike over a number of years the only ”all purpose motorcycle polish” I’ve ever seen is Knob Polish from Time Rider Shtuff For Bikers. Check out the page on their web site for 2 unbiased articles written about the stuff. It cleans and shines pretty much anything on the bike.

The best thing about it is you don’t use much to achieve great results. I think the name is halarious.

How to get hard side-bags off of a Ducati ST4 motorcycle?

I can’t really provide a ton of information, but there is usually a clamp on the motorcycle brands like gsxr, cbr, and gsx that I have had in my short time riding. The clamp is usually directly on the bottom and once un-clamped you can find a hex bolt or some type of bolt underneath. I don’t know if this helps but I hope you get them off.

Ducati Motorcycle Future Models?

I’m in the market to buy a new motorcycle. I’ve decided on a Ducati and I love the new 696. However I do have riding experience and I wonder if I will quickly outgrow the 696 and desire something with more power. It would be very disappointing to purchase the 696 and then for Ducati to release more powerful versions of the monster on the new 696 platforn within a short time of purchasing.

Does anyone have any information on when Ducai might release bigger monsters after the 696 based on the new design?

It’s a coin flip really, but I would lean towards the idea that they will have a larger cc bike based on that platform pretty soon.

The hype around the 696 is really good right now, but only time will tell how well it performs in the real world. If the feedback is good, look for a big bike sooner than later. But, if they have some negative issues, it may be back to the drawing board before they realease a new "flag-ship" monster.

I think the S4R came out around 05, and it’s been tweaked a little over the past few years…but it’s about time for an extensive work over. Especially with the new MV Augusta Brutale 1078RR coming out. Ducati won’t want to take a back seat to that for very long.

I’d guess by model year 2010….but it’s just a guess.

n their early 2000 models (up until recently in 2007/08), Ducati motorcycles came with keys that have a specialized anti-theft device. Similar to RFID (key-fobs, electronic strikes), these keys send a unique signal (each key blank will have it’s own unique signal) to the motocycle’s computer which are required for operation of the bike using the stock ECU.
Black keys are used to start the bike. When the bike turns on it will read the signal from the black key and a valid signal is required before the bike will start.
Red keys are primarily used to program the ECU to accept new signals. It’s false that a red key is required for any service on your bike (unless that service is specifically programming new keys into the stock ECU).
Ducati has moved away from the red key and now only uses key cards on 08 and newer bikes.

now my question is i have no idea of a general price plus how much would insurance be? I think i might vary with the insurance you already have, but im not sure. I want to become an avid biker i know that is certainly not he ideal beginners bike but i would like to save up and puchase one. The MSRP: was $12,995 in 2007. Insurance depends on many factors, age, driving record, experience, etc…

I’m in my 50′s and pay $75/year for a sport bike and a dual sport. But if you are in your teens, or early twenties, insurance might cost $2000+/year.

You should buy a cheap entry level bike to learn to ride and take a motorcycle safety class before you buy a 900cc bike.

What kind of Ducati for my first motorcycle?

I’m a 19-year-old female. I am planning on buying my first motorcycle. I’m planning on a Ducati for my first bike, and I wanted to know if (if at all) this is a good idea, and what model. I have no riding experience.
I’m 5’3" and 120 lbs by the way..

Glad to hear that you’re excited about getting into riding motorcycles!

To answer your question, a Ducati (personally) would not be my first option since they’re:

1) expensive
2) costly to maintain
3) very temperamental (you MUST adhere to the required maintenance
cycles)

As someone here already mentioned, you would definitely feel bad about dropping your bike (which you will do sooner or later). Don’t be shocked when asked to spend $500 or more for used body panels to replace your bike. And that’s just for one section!

Instead, consider a much cheaper manufacturer. How about Suzuki, Yamaha, Honda, etc.? As a new rider, I would suggest a Suzuki SV650. It’s a great starter bike with plenty of horsepower and easy to maintain. It also comes naked but with the option to buy body panels. You’d learn more and faster on this bike as opposed to a Suzuki GSXR600, trust me. Ergonomically, it fits nearly everyone.
There are countless other choices to consider as well but this model of bike is right up your alley.

When you decide what bike you want make sure to get something even more important: proper gear— new DOT-approved helmet (don’t buy a used helmet!), boots, gloves, jacket, etc.. Once that’s done, take the MSF basic riders course. It’s a 2-day course that’ll teach you the fundamentals of riding. If you’re military, it’s a free course otherwise you could pay upwards of $300.00.

What would a 2002 Ducati motorcycle be worth?

I don’t know much about motorcycles and need an idea of what to sell it for. It’s in good condition, runs great, 3,500 miles. We are second owners. Appreciate any input.
